Data from China's National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January to August 2026, the total profits of industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide reached 5,271.98 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%. Among them, profits of state-controlled enterprises increased by 10.3%, share-holding enterprises by 20.4%, foreign-invested and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-invested enterprises by 2.3%, and private enterprises by 10.4%. Profits in the mining industry increased by 35.1%, manufacturing by 17.4%, while electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply decreased by 12.0%.
