According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News on September 28, tech giants including Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, and MediaTek have recently collectively increased their orders for TSMC's 2-nanometer family capacity by 10% to 20%. Driven by this, TSMC has significantly accelerated its 2-nanometer expansion plan, with a monthly production target of 120,000 wafers by the end of this year, substantially exceeding the market's previous estimates of 90,000 to 100,000 wafers. This effectively brings forward the original 2027 capacity target by two years. TSMC Senior Vice President Y.P. Hou revealed that this year will mark the first time five 2-nanometer fabs will simultaneously ramp up production. The first year's wafer output for 2-nanometer will increase by 45% compared to the first year's 3-nanometer output in 2023, and the compound annual growth rate for 2-nanometer capacity will reach 70% from 2026 to 2028.
