Zervos, former chief market strategist at Jefferies and a CNBC contributor, joins the Treasury Department in a broad advisory capacity. He has previously backed Bessent's decision to increase buybacks of some long-term Treasury debt and called for lower interest rates from the Federal Reserve. Zervos was considered by Trump to run the Federal Reserve, but Kevin Warsh was ultimately chosen for the role.
