Australia's Goodman Group has canceled its A$1.2 billion Sydney data center plan due to policy and community opposition.
Australian property giant Goodman Group has announced the cancellation of its A$1.2 billion (approximately US$841 million) "Project Mars" data center plan in Sydney's Lane Cove area. The decision was attributed to changes in the "policy and regulatory environment" and strong local resident opposition. The project was originally planned to be located approximately 20 meters from the nearest residential property and received 374 submissions during public consultation, with only nine expressing support.
