Anthropic released its new generation AI model, Sonnet 5.5, on Monday. Priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, the model is half the cost of its high-end Opus 5.5 model. The company stated that Sonnet 5.5 outperforms its predecessor in coding, completing specific tasks, and creating documents, slides, and spreadsheets, but does not advance the frontier of its model capabilities. This is the second model released by Anthropic since CEO Dario Amodei called for a slowdown in AI development. Sonnet 5.5 is now available on all platforms, including Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
