Al Jazeera reports that Lebanese residents generally hold little hope for Israel's upcoming general election, believing that the military policies and territorial ambitions of both incumbent Prime Minister Netanyahu and main challenger Eisenkot are essentially the same. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks on civilian areas in southern Lebanon have resulted in at least 8,920 deaths and 30,595 injuries, with nearly 6% of Lebanese territory remaining occupied. Lebanese Prime Minister Salam called for the implementation of the framework agreement signed with Israel at the UN General Assembly last week, but the Israeli military has instead intensified its attacks on southern Lebanon.
