Near Intents Recovers $3.8 Million After 48-Hour Ultimatum to Hacker
Cross-chain swap service Near Intents announced that approximately $3.8 million, which was drained in an exploit on Thursday, has been fully returned. This recovery occurred a day after the team publicly stated they had identified the attacker and issued a 48-hour deadline for the funds' return. Near Intents General Manager Alex Shevchenko confirmed the full return on X, adding that the investigation is now closed. The attacker sent an on-chain message expressing remorse and thanking the Near team for their cordiality, urging others to use bug bounties. The exploit was due to a bug in the interaction between Near Intents' Omni deposit/withdrawal layer and its main smart contract. The service had previously halted operations and pledged to compensate users. This incident follows Near Intents blocking a $50 million swap attempt by the Bitget hacker two days prior.
