Glassnode Report: Bitcoin Fails to Break $85,000 Amid Thin Trading Volume and Short-Term Holder Profit-Taking
Glassnode's October 7 report noted that Bitcoin fell nearly 5% this week, failing to sustain above $85,000. Data shows that the average daily trading volume for Bitcoin spot exchanges and US spot ETFs was approximately $6.8 billion in the seven days leading up to October 6, lower than 90% of trading days since January 2024. Additionally, about 86% of Bitcoin sent to exchanges on October 4 came from profit-taking by short-term holders (those holding for less than 155 days), the highest proportion in a year. CryptoQuant data further indicates that approximately 92% of short-term holders are currently in profit, equivalent to about 3.27 million Bitcoins. The report suggests that $81,900, representing the average cost basis for recent buyers, will be the next key support level.
