Ethereum L2 Starknet is considering a transition to an L1, aiming for full quantum resistance by 2027. STRK token surged 20% on the news.
Starknet announced it is "actively considering" becoming its own Layer 1 blockchain and plans to be the first fully quantum-resistant network by 2027. Following this news, the STRK token rose by approximately 20% in the past 24 hours, trading at around $0.073. StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson stated on X that the quantum threat might be closer than we think, noting that Starknet, as an L2, relies on Ethereum's security, and Ethereum aims to achieve core post-quantum infrastructure around 2029. Becoming an L1 would allow Starknet to control its own security upgrades without having to wait for progress from Ethereum or Bitcoin.
