United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg stated at a UN Security Council meeting on Friday that Yemen has slid back into “full-scale war” amid ongoing fighting between Houthi and government forces. He urged collective support for mediation efforts, emphasizing that battlefield gains cannot substitute for negotiations. Saudi Arabia and Yemen's internationally recognized government called on the Security Council to take decisive measures against Houthi escalation, including reducing funding and weapons flow to the group. This follows Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including two on King Khalid International Airport on Thursday, which killed three Saudi citizens.
