Hacking attempts on South Korea's central bank and state lenders exceeded 1 million in the first nine months of 2026
According to data released on Sunday by Rep. Kang Min-kuk of the People Power Party, the Bank of Korea and three state lenders recorded 1,024,478 hacking attempts through September, a 9.6% increase from 934,858 in all of 2025. The number of attempts has steadily climbed from 358,800 in 2020. No breaches resulting from these attempts were reported between 2020 and September 2026.
