Japan's Metaplanet Sells Bitcoin to Improve Financing and Credit Rating, Repurchases at Higher Price
Japanese financial firm Metaplanet sold 10,000 Bitcoins to obtain a credit rating and better access to financing, then repurchased 11,000 Bitcoins at an average price approximately 9.3% higher. The company disclosed on October 5 that this move was aimed at demonstrating to potential creditors its management's ability to use its Bitcoin holdings to fulfill debt obligations.
