Ledger discovers unauthorized hardware implant in crypto wallet linked to theft probe
Crypto hardware wallet firm Ledger has confirmed the discovery of an unauthorized hardware implant inside a user's device, which was sold by its authorized Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis. This finding, disclosed on October 10, is the first concrete evidence of hardware tampering in its ongoing investigation into alleged crypto thefts. Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès independently verified these hardware modifications from affected users' pictures. CryptoBilis has ceased sales of all hardware wallets as a precautionary measure.
