South Korea's Supreme Court on October 12 enacted Rule No. 3280, establishing standardized procedures for courts to seize and sell debtors' cryptocurrencies to repay civil debts. The rule, effective November 1, covers cryptocurrencies held in exchanges and private wallets. The new regulation allows court officials to take possession of directly held cryptocurrencies before the debtor receives a formal seizure order and requires cryptocurrency exchanges to prevent asset transfers and disclose relevant information. Sales must use the market price on the transaction day.
