Israel's former security chief sues Netanyahu for defamation over October 7 attack responsibility
Ronen Bar, former head of Israel’s domestic security agency Shin Bet, has sued Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for defamation. Bar accused Netanyahu of “lying to cover himself” and making slanderous claims of his “criminal failures” regarding the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack. Bar is seeking three million shekels (about $968,500) in damages. The lawsuit comes ahead of Israel’s October 27 election, where Netanyahu is fighting to retain power.
