Wallstreetcn analysis indicates diverging signals in the new round of Chinese insurance capital entering the market. As of the end of Q2 2026, life insurance companies' stock investment balance was approximately 3.86 trillion yuan, accounting for 10.47% of their total deployable funds, a 2.14 percentage point increase from the same period last year. However, as of October 9, only 5 insurance companies had made 9 "举牌" (significant shareholding) investments in listed companies this year, less than one-third of the number during the same period last year. Guo Xiaotao, Co-CEO of Ping An, and Chen Yijiang, President of New China Asset Management, both expressed long-term optimism about the Chinese economy and capital market, planning to continuously increase allocations to high-dividend core holdings. Yet, a Chief Investment Officer from a foreign life insurance company revealed plans to maintain a stable equity ratio, while a CICC research report warned that domestic life insurance funds might already be somewhat overweight in equities, suggesting limited room for further increases in equity allocation in the short term. The divergence stems from differing assessments of the risk tolerance of life insurance companies' existing liabilities.
