Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh stated at the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings that artificial intelligence is the most profound economic transformation he has witnessed in his lifetime, and the remaining two Fed policy meetings this year—in October and December—will be critical junctures for forming clear policy judgments. Warsh noted that global economic trends since the September rate hike have "largely aligned" with the Fed's expectations, which the market interpreted as a signal for maintaining interest rates in October. Following his remarks, the dollar fell 0.1% against a basket of currencies, and S&P 500 futures rose 0.3%; market bets on a Fed rate hike in October quickly dropped from approximately 27% to about 15%. Warsh also announced the abandonment of the "forward guidance" strategy, returning to data-driven decision-making, and stated that the Fed's Productivity and Employment Working Group will hold a field hearing on November 16, focusing on the economic impact of AI.
