S&P Global warns that the AI-related liabilities of the world's largest tech companies could be significantly higher than disclosed, primarily due to implicit guarantee arrangements for data center construction or investments in small and medium-sized AI enterprises. The agency projects that the six major US hyperscale cloud providers—Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Meta, and SpaceX—will collectively spend over $7 trillion on data centers and other AI-related capital expenditures between 2025 and 2030. Despite this, S&P currently has no plans to adjust ratings but stated that its rating stance could change if the existing scale of expenditure is deemed unsustainable.
