Following a slowdown in transaction processing on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network due to severe validator lag, David Schwartz, former Ripple CTO and XRPL co-founder, publicly detailed the protocol's architectural flaws and its network security margin issues. Schwartz stated that the slowdown was direct evidence of a decrease in the system's technical security margin, suggesting the network might be under a targeted attack or that an internal hidden vulnerability has been activated. He also clarified that the XRPL network is decentralized and does not have a single point of failure, but the main problem lies in the vulnerability of the network monitoring system under peak load.
