Syria and Jordan have reopened their border, and the two countries will investigate the incident where a Jordanian airstrike on ISIL targets in Syria killed seven people. According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the two countries' only border crossing, Nassib, will reopen on Wednesday morning, and passenger and commercial traffic will resume normally. Previously, the Jordanian military stated that Monday's airstrike on ISIL hideouts in southern Syria was in response to a shooting at a Greek Orthodox church in Karak, Jordan, last Friday, for which ISIL has claimed responsibility. The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that the airstrike killed at least seven people, including five members of one family (three children). The two countries also agreed to establish a security committee to investigate the consequences of the airstrike and to strengthen "on-the-ground and intelligence coordination" to counter terrorist threats and protect civilians.
