Ukraine and Finland will jointly develop an independent military satellite system, following previous reports of Starlink service limitations.
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense announced that Starlink satellite navigation services resumed normal operation on October 24, with communication speeds exceeding 400 km/h. Previously, on October 14, Ukraine had reported losing control of its drones at speeds over 150 km/h. Starlink owner Elon Musk admitted on October 24 to having "plugged a loophole" that had allowed Ukraine to use Starlink for offensive purposes. Against this backdrop, Ukraine and Finland announced on October 22 that they would jointly develop an independent military satellite system, with satellite launches planned to begin in 2028. Poland's ICEYE and Finland's Nokia will collaborate to realize this system. On October 28, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also discussed satellite technology cooperation with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
