Polygon proposes recovering 70.49 million POL stolen by Binance and Polymarket hackers via hard fork
Polygon has proposed a hard fork to recover 70.49 million POL stolen from Binance and Polymarket hackers, sparking decentralization controversies. Polygon developers have proposed a PoS hard fork to forcibly zero out the hackers' wallet addresses at the protocol layer to recover the 70.49 million POL stolen in two independent hacking incidents in late October (valued at $6.5 million at the time of the attacks, with 23.86 million from Polymarket and 46.63 million from Binance), and mirror-credit an equivalent amount of tokens to the affected wallets of the two platforms. The plan is currently subject to a community vote.
