IRGC Spokesperson Mohebbi stated that the war between Iran and the United States continues on both military and economic fronts, warning that "naturally, in a war, they may strike one of our vessels, but we will retaliate with a much heavier blow." In response to the US military's recently announced "Iron Gate" blockade plan targeting Iran's land borders, Mohebbi countered that regardless of the form it takes, the US will never succeed in achieving its pursued economic blockade. It is reported that the US military previously announced the formation of a 20-nation task force to sever Iranian land transport routes alleged to be used as corridors for weapons and illicit goods. This follows an eight-month war between the two nations, accompanied by a US naval blockade of Iranian ports, while Tehran has also imposed restrictions on the vital trade shipping lanes of the Strait of Hormuz, dealing a blow to global energy supplies.
