Experts say the move could become the largest single visa revocation in U.S. history. The U.S. State Department will revoke B-1 and B-2 business or tourist visas issued between 2016 and 2026 for holders who have previously applied for or are currently seeking asylum in the United States. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said on Monday that the measure is aimed at combating foreigners who "claim to be short-term visitors but then apply for asylum to stay in the U.S. permanently." The move is part of the Donald Trump administration's broader immigration crackdown, and while legal experts note that revoking a visa does not equate to terminating an asylum application, the policy is intended to act as a deterrent.
