What is bloXroute? Core Functions and Technical Advantages
bloXroute is a cryptocurrency project focused on improving the transmission efficiency and scalability of blockchain networks. It aims to accelerate the propagation of transactions and blocks by providing a high-performance Blockchain Distribution Network (BDN). The BDN utilizes a globally distributed relay network to route blockchain traffic, significantly reducing the latency and volatility of transaction and block propagation, making it faster and more predictable than traditional methods that rely on the public internet.
bloXroute's technical advantages are reflected in its system-level caching, direct routing, optimized topology, and dynamic routing selection mechanisms. These technologies work together to significantly speed up the transmission of transactions and blocks across the network. The network supports various mainstream blockchain systems, including Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Base, Hyperliquid, Robinhood, and Polygon, without requiring modifications to the underlying consensus protocols. bloXroute primarily serves professional traders, searchers, and validators, providing them with real-time DeFi data, ultra-fast transaction propagation, validator solutions (such as MEV protection), and block building services.
Project Development History and Funding Overview
bloXroute was co-founded in 2017 by Uri Klarman, Eyal Markovich, Aleksandar Kuzmanovic (a computer science professor at Northwestern University), and Emin Gün Sirer (a computer science professor at Cornell University and founder of Avalanche). The project's whitepaper, "bloXroute: A Scalable Trustless Blockchain Distribution Network," was published in March 2018, detailing its technical vision and implementation roadmap. bloXroute's BDN Version 1 officially launched in December 2019, following collaborative testing with blockchains such as Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash.
In terms of funding, bloXroute has shown strong performance. In 2017, the project secured $10 million in seed funding from investors including Flybridge and Naval Ravikant. Subsequently, in April 2022, bloXroute successfully completed a $70 million Series B funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. To date, bloXroute has cumulatively raised approximately $89.6 million.
Acquired by FalconX: Strategic Integration
On July 15, 2026, bloXroute was acquired by FalconX, a leading digital asset prime broker. This acquisition is seen as a strategic move aimed at integrating bloXroute's advanced network infrastructure with FalconX's institutional trading platform and global market infrastructure to jointly accelerate the development of next-generation on-chain capital markets.
Raghu Yarlagadda, CEO of FalconX, stated that future capital markets will be on-chain, and as on-chain and traditional markets converge, institutions need a single platform built for both. The addition of bloXroute will significantly strengthen their platform capabilities and accelerate the development of new products and services. Uri Klarman, CEO of bloXroute, also noted that as institutional activity increasingly moves on-chain, connectivity becomes as important as execution and liquidity. Joining FalconX allows them to build new trading and prime brokerage products and benefit from FalconX's global distribution and regulatory infrastructure.
