According to the National Intellectual Property Agency, the value added by patent-intensive industries in 2024 was $183.81 billion, representing 13.38 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), an increase of 0.34 percentage points over the previous year. In terms of internal composition: the new equipment manufacturing industry was the largest, with an increase of 51.377 billion yuan, representing 28.5 per cent of the added value of patent-intensive industries; followed by ICT services, with an increase of 437.9 billion yuan, or 24.2 per cent; and again, ICT manufacturing, with an increase of 3588.5 billion yuan, or 19.9 per cent.
