According to the latest report released by the Global Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) platform, total assets under management by global sovereign wealth funds reached a record $15 trillion in 2025. At the same time, many sovereign wealth funds increased their investments in the technology sector and reaped benefits from the booming market. Overall, total investments by sovereign wealth funds in artificial intelligence and digitalization reached $66 billion in 2025. Sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East stood out the most in terms of digital investments, with Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company investing $12.9 billion in artificial intelligence and digital sectors, followed by the Kuwait Investment Authority with $6 billion and the Qatar Investment Authority with $4 billion. The Middle East remains a hub for sovereign wealth funds. The seven major Gulf region funds secured a total of $126 billion in investments globally, accounting for 43% of total global investments by state-owned investors—a record high.
