According to the Ministry of Transport, total cross-regional passenger traffic across the country is expected to exceed 208 million trips today (January 1), representing a 0.2% increase from the previous day and a 21.0% increase year-on-year. Railway passenger traffic reached 18.25 million trips, up 9.4% from the previous day and 65.1% year-on-year. Road passenger traffic (including non-commercial passenger trips on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways, as well as commercial road passenger transport) reached 187.26 million trips, a 0.5% decrease from the previous day and an 18.1% increase year-on-year. Of this total, commercial road passenger traffic was 35.23 million trips, a 2.3% decrease from the previous day but a 26.3% increase year-on-year; non-commercial passenger trips on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways totaled 152.03 million trips, a 0.1% decrease from the previous day but a 16.4% increase year-on-year; Waterway passenger traffic totaled 670,000 trips, up 7.0% month-on-month and up 0.9% year-on-year.
