In 2025, the national average temperature was 11.0°C, 1.1°C higher than the long-term average (9.9°C), breaking the 2024 record of 10.9°C and setting a new record high since 1961. Temperatures in most parts of the country were more than 0.5°C above average. Temperatures in 16 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions)—including Xinjiang, Liaoning, Hebei, Jiangxi, Hubei, Shandong, Tianjin, Tibet, Hunan, Henan, Jilin, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Anhui, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu—all reached their highest levels since 1961.
