Michael Nichols, vice president of engineering at SpaceX’s Starlink division, said Thursday that Starlink will reconfigure its satellite constellation, planning to lower all satellites currently operating in an orbit of approximately 550 kilometers (342 miles) to an altitude of 480 kilometers during 2026, a move aimed at improving space safety.
