On January 6, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked a question regarding the situation in Venezuela. In response, Mao Ning stated, “I am not familiar with the specific details you mentioned. What I can tell you is that the Chinese government has always attached great importance to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens overseas. To the best of my knowledge, all Chinese journalists currently in Venezuela are safe.” (CCTV News)
