Svmuu News: Christopher Perkins, president of CoinFund and a former banker, posted on X, criticizing the Crypto Market Structure Act currently under consideration by the U.S. Senate for potentially restricting retail investors’ access to stablecoin-related rewards. As a member of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Global Markets Advisory Committee, Perkins stated that depriving retail investors of the right to earn stablecoin rewards is an inappropriate policy, especially given that income inequality remains a major social issue. Noting the existence of a U.S. stablecoin bill called GENIUS, he questioned why policymakers would seek to prevent ordinary investors from earning returns on stablecoins. Perkins suggested addressing banks’ concerns about deposit and loan outflows by freeing up regulatory capital and integrating blockchain technology, arguing that this would be a win-win solution.
