Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett and CEO Greg Abel, has significantly increased its stake in Alphabet (GOOG/GOOGL). Buffett initially announced a new position in Alphabet in Q3 2025, and Greg Abel tripled the holding in Q1 2026, his first quarter as CEO. Alphabet now constitutes 7.8% of Berkshire's equity portfolio, making it one of its largest positions. The increase comes as Alphabet's stock recently declined following its Q2 2026 earnings report, despite strong revenue growth, due to market concerns over its planned $205 billion capital expenditures for AI investments.
