Iran's Supreme Leader's office has appointed Mohsen Rezaee, a former commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for 16 years, as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and the Supreme Leader's representative in the top decision-making body. The move is seen as a consolidation of the country's hierarchy, with analysts suggesting it signals no softening in negotiations with the United States and aims to strengthen internal cohesion and leadership control. Additionally, six new military positions were filled, including Ali Abdollahi as the new chief of staff of the armed forces and Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi confirmed as commander-in-chief of the IRGC.
