SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung stated at the groundbreaking ceremony on August 26 that the company's more than $4 billion HBM production facility in Indiana will be the gateway for the first "Made in America" HBM products. However, the DRAM wafers for these products will still be manufactured at South Korean factories, then shipped to West Lafayette, Indiana, for stacking, packaging, and testing. The factory is expected to begin mass production in the second half of 2026, marking SK Hynix's first HBM production base in the United States.
