U.S. officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the German government through multiple channels, Bloomberg reported on September 3, citing sources. Reasons include Bundesbank President Nagel's public criticism of uncoordinated U.S. forex operations involving euro sales to support the yen, and German Finance Minister Klingbeil's tough stance on Russia against the U.S. The report added that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was also displeased with Klingbeil's refusal to be photographed with the Russian Finance Minister and their confrontation at the meeting. Furthermore, Germany criticized the U.S. Treasury Department's restrictions on journalists attending G20 meetings.
