A CoinGecko report, dated August 27, revealed that cryptocurrency platforms collectively lost more than $3.63 billion due to cyberattacks and stolen passkeys from January 2025 to July 2026. The report highlighted that approximately 60% of the affected platforms and 88% of the stolen funds were from entities that had completed independent security audits, noting that most attacks targeted areas not typically covered by such checks. Bybit was the most affected platform, with a $1.4 billion heist in February 2025, followed by KelpDao ($292 million) and Drift Protocol ($285 million).
