South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT announced its five-year R&D roadmap for 2026-2030 on September 16, with a planned investment of 1.4131 trillion Korean Won (approximately $1.01 billion). The plan aims to expand AI applications from factory defect detection to production control, equipment collaboration, and factory operations. It also intends to promote mature technologies to manufacturing bases nationwide, creating "K-Manufacturing Factories" that can be exported overseas. This project will also integrate the long-accumulated process experience and "tacit knowledge" data from manufacturing companies into the national R&D system to enhance AI's understanding and direct control capabilities over production processes.
