The UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Islamic Republic of Iran released a report on Thursday, accusing Iranian authorities of committing crimes against humanity during the nationwide protests in late 2025 and early 2026. These crimes included suppressing demonstrators through internet shutdowns, unlawful killings, torture, arbitrary detentions, and enforced disappearances. The report stated that the number of deaths and injuries caused by state forces was significantly higher than the government's reported figures of 3,038 deaths and 25,000 injuries, but the mission was unable to verify the exact numbers.
