Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks says 700,000 new seniors have started GLP-1s since Medicare coverage launched in July, with 70% on Lilly drugs
Ricks told CNBC on Monday that the rollout of Medicare coverage for obesity drugs has been "very encouraging," expanding the broader GLP-1 market as hoped. The coverage is provided through a temporary "Bridge" program, allowing eligible beneficiaries to access weight-loss drugs for a $50 monthly co-pay. Lilly's Zepbound appears to be the biggest winner, with its new oral obesity pill Foundayo also capturing one-third of new oral GLP-1 patients.
