Lebanese Prime Minister demands Israeli withdrawal at UN General Assembly, as Israeli forces continue shelling southern Lebanon.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam addressed the UN General Assembly, demanding Israel end its occupation of southern Lebanon and fully implement the ceasefire agreement, calling for a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the release of all detainees. He stated that the Lebanese government has been negotiating with Israel under the mediation of the United States and President Donald Trump to end the war and restore Lebanese sovereignty. Salam pledged to oversee the disarmament of Hezbollah if Israel fully withdraws. Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue shelling and demolition operations within Lebanon, along with airstrikes that have sparked fires. Since the outbreak of the Hezbollah-Israel war on March 2, Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have resulted in at least 4,386 deaths, 12,407 injuries, and the occupation of approximately 600 square kilometers of Lebanese territory.
