Iraq's government said on Saturday it was in direct talks with Washington to seek an exemption for its airports to resume flights that were suspended due to U.S. sanctions on Iranian airlines. This followed the suspension of all flights to and from Iran by four Iraqi airports on Friday. The Iraqi prime minister's office stated that the exemption would allow flights to resume "for humanitarian reasons related to medical, educational, religious visits, and civilian interests."
