Over 140 pubs in Ireland have refused to broadcast the Ireland vs. Israel football match in protest of the Gaza war.
More than 140 pubs and restaurants across Ireland have refused to broadcast the Irish national team's football match against Israel in protest of Israel's war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported. This follows Irish national goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu's withdrawal from the match due to personal beliefs. A poll showed that 76% of Irish football supporters opposed the match taking place, and 63% of Professional Footballers' Association members voted against participating. Although the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) voted in July to proceed with the match, its members had voted by 93% in November to support suspending Israel from UEFA competitions.
