South Korean stocks opened lower on Monday, driven by concerns over AI spending following disappointing earnings reports from Intel and Amazon. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 51 points, or 0.89%, to 5,679.74 as of 9:15 AM. This followed a decline in major Wall Street indices on Friday (U.S. time), as Intel and Amazon's disappointing quarterly results intensified market worries about the sustainability of AI expenditures, with the S&P 500 dropping 1.82%.
