PAXG is strictly regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) and undergoes regular third-party audits to ensure transparency of its reserves. It combines gold’s safe-haven attributes with the high liquidity and low-cost advantages of blockchain technology. It can be used for store of value, DeFi collateral, and cross-border transfers, and supports redemption for physical gold. As of August 1, 2026, PAXG had a market capitalization of approximately $1.78 billion to $1.79 billion, with its price fluctuating between $4,033 and $4,051.

The ERC-20 BUSD issued by Paxos was strictly regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).However, following the NYDFS’s February 2023 order for Paxos to cease issuing new BUSD—coupled with an investigation by the U.S. SEC—BUSD’s market position declined sharply. Binance ceased support for BUSD at the end of 2023 and automatically converted the remaining BUSD in user accounts to FDUSD in early 2024. Nevertheless, on July 6, 2026, the U.S. SEC concluded its investigation into Paxos’s issuance of BUSD and decided not to take enforcement action.
