The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and another department issued guiding opinions on promoting the high-quality development of the power grid. The opinions propose that by 2030, a new power grid platform, with the backbone grid and distribution network as important foundations and smart microgrids as beneficial supplements, will be initially established. The main grid, distribution network, and microgrids will form an organic whole with clear interfaces, complete functions, intelligent operation, and efficient interaction. The grid's ability to optimize resource allocation will be effectively enhanced, with "west-to-east power transmission" exceeding 420 million kilowatts, and an additional inter-provincial power mutual assistance capacity of approximately 40 million kilowatts. This will support new energy power generation accounting for about 30% of the total, accommodate distributed new energy capacity of 900 million kilowatts, support over 40 million charging infrastructure units, fully leverage the foundational role of the public power grid, promote diversified development of smart microgrids, maintain stable operation of the power system, and more effectively serve residential electricity consumption.
