AMD (AMD.O) CEO Lisa Su showcased several AI chips at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Among them, the MI455 AI chip is a component of the data center server racks the company sells to customers. Ryzen also unveiled the MI440X, designed specifically for on-premises enterprise use. At Monday’s event, OpenAI President Greg Brockman joined Ryzen on stage and stated that advances in chip technology are critical to meeting OpenAI’s massive computing demands. With an eye on the future needs of companies like OpenAI, Su also previewed the MI500 chip, claiming it offers 1,000 times the performance of earlier versions. AMD stated that this chip will be launched in 2027. AMD also unveiled the Ryzen AI 400 series processors for AI PCs, as well as the Ryzen AI Max+ chip for on-premises inference and gaming.
