According to CNBC, a federal civil lawsuit has been filed against former U.S. President Donald Trump and his family's crypto company, World Liberty Financial, alleging that they illegally profited over $2 billion through digital currency transactions with foreign entities. The lawsuit claims these transactions violated the U.S. Constitution's emoluments clause, which prohibits federal officials from accepting foreign funds.

The lawsuit was filed on Thursday in a Washington federal district court by a shareholder of U.S. crypto company Circle Internet Group, accusing World Liberty Financial of two "illegal foreign emoluments" transactions with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's national security advisor. These include a Tahnoon-backed entity acquiring a 49% stake in World Liberty for $500 million in January 2025, and an Abu Dhabi investment fund chaired by Tahnoon "inflating the value of Trump's crypto assets" by purchasing $2 billion of World Liberty's stablecoin, USD1.

A spokesperson for World Liberty Financial denied the allegations, stating that the company complies with all U.S. laws and regulations and looks forward to resolving the matter in court. Circle stated it did not initiate, direct, or participate in the lawsuit.

Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery reported that a single Solana wallet generated $1.4 billion in suspected wash trades, accounting for nearly a quarter of Raydium's concentrated-liquidity volume between Sept. 21 and Oct. 20. The operation used about $12,000 in working capital to repeatedly generate transactions worth millions of dollars. The investigation also found substantial discrepancies, with ten pools linked to the wallet showing about $5.93 billion in combined liquidity on DEXScreener, despite holding just $10,238 in USDC reserves. These findings raise fresh concerns about the reliability of decentralized exchange trading volumes and liquidity figures.

Cumulative net inflows since launch now stand at $58.4 billion, with total net assets at $100.8 billion. On Thursday, US AI stocks suffered a major setback, with market sentiment shifting from the previous day's optimism to scrutiny over whether the massive capital expenditures in AI can deliver returns. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index and the semiconductor industry ETF SOXX both fell over 6% in early trading, NVIDIA dropped over 4%, AMD fell about 8%, and Lam Research plunged over 10%. Meta was down over 7% intraday, and the price of its five-year credit default swap (CDS) rose to a historical high, highlighting investor concerns about the scale of AI investments, future financing needs, and the return cycle. Meta had previously raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to $135 billion to $145 billion and disclosed future spending commitments rising to $825 billion. Meanwhile, attacks in Saudi Arabia pushed Brent crude oil above $110/barrel, exacerbating energy costs and inflation risks, further prompting investors to reduce exposure to high-valuation tech assets and shift towards bonds.

Bitcoin's price slid on Thursday, erasing earlier gains, after oil prices jumped. The largest cryptocurrency was down by nearly 4% over a 24-hour period on Thursday in New York, trading as low as $81,331 at one point. The surge in oil prices, driven by Middle East conflict and Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, is spurring inflation fears and increasing the chances of the U.S. central bank raising interest rates, which typically hurts risk-on assets like Bitcoin and tech stocks.
