LinkedIn study finds Millennials and Gen Z are securing fast-growing, high-paying AI jobs, with median salaries for typical AI roles at $177,000
The research indicates that young workers are thriving in the AI job market, despite facing difficulties in the broader job market. Gen Z accounts for over two-thirds of hires for roles like forward deployed engineer ($199,000 median annual salary) and AI engineer ($166,000 median), while Millennials make up 60% of new hires for head of AI positions ($236,000 median pay). AI job postings on the platform increased by 156% between 2024 and 2025. However, the study also highlights that women are underrepresented, making up only 26% of new hires in AI roles in 2025, compared to 50% in non-AI occupations.
