OKX has introduced 'OKX Shield,' a voluntary goodwill program designed to reimburse eligible users for losses in their OKX Exchange accounts due to third-party account takeover (ATO) incidents. The maximum reimbursement limit varies by user tier: up to $100,000 for regular users, up to $250,000 for VIP 1-3 users, and up to $500,000 for VIP 4-6 users.
To activate OKX Shield, eligible KYC users must pass account and device health checks, enable Large Withdrawal Protection and Web Withdrawal Protection, set up MFA for all supported activities, and accept the terms. The program covers unauthorized withdrawals resulting from credential-phishing, Trojan or malware attacks, malicious remote control, and SIM-swap attacks. Exclusions include user-initiated transactions (even if deceived), investment/trading losses, and API-key disclosure. Claims must be submitted within 72 hours of the last unauthorized transaction, with supporting information provided within seven days.
